Marcin Masecki presents his latest big band suite, specially written for the Jazz Around festival. Joining him in the ensemble are top instrumentalists from the Polish jazz scene, all led from behind his legendary piano. Brass instruments are a natural environment for Masecki; his father was a clarinetist, and as a child, he listened incessantly to American big bands. He wrote his first Symphony for the Volunteer Fire Brigade Orchestra in Słupca, later founding the brass band Polonezy, which played original polonaises, as well as the Jazz BandBigband, specializing in dance music. For the past 6 years, he has co-led Jazzband Młynarski-Masecki, unleashing his arranging fantasy. In 2023, he wrote a special Jubilee Suite for the 70th anniversary of the reconstruction of Warsaw’s Old Town for big band. This year, he adds many new compositions to the selected ones by Masecki, along with a surprise.
