Brooklyn Funk Essentials
Brooklyn Funk Essentials

This peculiar New York-based group is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Brooklyn Funk Essentials have established themselves over the years as an unpredictable, multicultural project combining styles and inspirations from all over the world: funk, jazz, afrobeat, rock, soul and even hip hop. Founded by Arthur Baker and Lati Kronlund, the group was a constant and key regular on the New York club scene until the release of their debut album “Cool&Steady&Easy” in 1994, which opened the door to the band’s international recognition. Subsequent albums, including “In the Buzz Bag” (1998) and “Make Them Like It” (2000), also gained widespread popularity and appreciation from loyal audiences.
